![]() Do you know the children’s story “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”? It’s such a masterful circle story that starts and ends…with a cookie! Our lives are full of circle stories and scenarios where one choice leads to a result which leads…in a circle (and let’s say the cookie represents our well-being!). Healthy sleep and a healthy body go hand-in-hand. One thing leads to another. Conversely, lack of adequate rest can make a big impact on our overall health and wellness. There are many scenarios that make sleep disregulation wreak havoc on our well being. The first comes from self-sabotage. You know, leaning on a venti latte to get going, for instance, or snatching a late-night snack just because you’re awake. Perhaps it’s skipping the gym because you’re just too tired. These scenarios can become vicious cycles that sabotage your systems and lead further down the path of wellness breakdown. Unhealthy choices breed unhealthy habits. Too little sleep translates to disregulation of vital whole body repair and toxin flush that occurs in a normal sleep cycle. A rested body helps lead to a properly functioning body. A sleepy brain is inefficient and dull. Insomnia may cause a person to make poor decisions and to have poor impulse control. One can also crave junk food when over tired. Sleep is to the brain as nutrition is to the body. The stress hormone, cortisol, spikes up on too little sleep, causing a body to keep hold of, or hoard, fat. Adequate sleep sets up your body for your day - gives you a better perspective to face what’s in front of you. Allows you to have the energy stores you need to get your move on - which in turn returns your cycle to again get good rest for the night. It’s a beautiful circle story! When you have inadequate sleep, you are setting your metabolic system up for being as groggy as you are! In sleep debt, your grumpy fat cells, instead of carrying fatty acids and lipids from the blood stream, do just the opposite, allowing excess insulin to have it’s heyday. Fat gets stored in all the wrong places, like liver tissue. Dare I say this is a sad circle story? Too much sugar, causing blood sugar imbalance, in turn causes wakefulness and restlessness. Too much screen time negatively affects the body’s ability to regulate a quieted system. Caffeine on board ramps one up. All of these can stir up adrenal fatigue and imbalance How can we make sleep a priority and set our systems up to work more optimally? It only takes a quick search through the very reliable anecdotal testimonials in oil chat groups to produce a myriad of helpful options. There are a whole host of Young Living products used to support our bodies to have the best rest. Here I’ve compiled a list from one such search. Don’t let the list overwhelm you, or get bogged down with the details. Just quickly scroll through to get a sense for the fact that many oils and products can help with one & many things! What did you do to get your best nights sleep? Here is a compilation of answers: * 2 valor, 1 cedar wood in diffuser + 2 valor on spine * Cedarwood, lavender and peace & calming * Diffuse lavender * Rutavala or cedarwood, vetiver and lavender * Lavender under big toes + valor on ears and toes * Nutmeg and lavender on wrists * Valor, lavender and cedarwood on big toes, tranquil on forearms and temples * Lavender and cedarwood, lavender bath gel in shower and Ylang Ylang * Diffuse lavender, cedar wood and stress away + roller of lavender, patchouli, vetiver, valor and stress away used on wrists and under big toes * Peace and calming on feet + vetiver on big toe * Diffuse lavender, valor and vetiver * Vetiver on big toes and behind ears, diffuse sleepyize * Stress away, cedarwood and vetiver in diffuser * Cedarwood and tangerine on feet * Lavender, cedar wood and marjoram - 2 each, diffused * Rutavala + diffuse lavender, cedar wood, stress away, yang yang and clary sage * Tranquil roll-on * Tangerine and valor on feet * “I can’t do lavender for anything sleep”…try cedarwood, valor, bergamot, diffused + cedarwood on big toes * Tranquil or white Angelica on brainstem, wrists and behind ears, + diffuse: sacred mountain or peace and calming * Tranquil and lavender lotion * Patchouli * Vetiver * Rutavala * Valor and cedarwood, topically * Valor, vetiver and peace and calming with carrier on bottom of feet * Cedarwood across forehead * Frankincense and sacred mountain in diffuser * Cedarwood/sacred mountain or lavender/Northern Lights black spruce diffused + cedarwood on bottom of toes * Cedarwood and geranium diffused * Lavender and vetiver in spray bottle with water - spray on pillow * Tranquil, gentle baby, norther lights black spruce, aroma life * Diffuse: roman chamomile and lavender * Vetiver, frankincense, lavender and cedarwood * Lavender, cedarwood and stress away * Northern lights black spruce and orange * Vetiver on wrists and behind ears * Sacred mountain and tangerine * Peace and calming and lavender and tangerine * Clove and orange * Immupower * 2 sacred mountain + 5 orange in diffuser * Mix equal parts and use neat (25 drops or so each): stress away, lavender, cedarwood, valor, frank - over heart, back of neck, big toes, under/behind ears, wrists, under nose * Dream catcher * Peace & Calming and lavender in diffuser + tranquil on spine and bottom of feet * Peace and calming * 3 valor and 2 lavender * Vetiver, cedarwood and bergamot in roller with carrier * Release and forgiveness * Layer stress away, vetiver, rutavala or peace & calming, valor and rutavala * “Sweet dreams” roller, applied behind ears and on big toes: 10 drops each of lavender, valor, cedarwood, orange, vetiver, frankincense and ylang yang * “Sweet sleep” roller: 20 lavender + 7 vetiver * Diffuse: 4 cedarwood and 4 white Angelica * Sleep Essence * Thyromin and Tranquil roll-on Note the variations. Diffusing, applying topically, ingesting - the options vary and are as unique as the people recommending. The oils are as versatile as people are. Everyone is unique and different. We can all use different oils and get along, haha!! Really…what works for one may not work for another, but there is something that will work for you. You may just need to go through the process to find your ideal option. The promise lies in the fact that there is a YL oil or supplement (or combination) that will work to bring balance to your rest needs. You see there are commonalities throughout this list. Lavender and cedarwood come up A LOT. Those may be good starting points for a newcomer to this process. There are many differences, too. Who knew bergamot could help support sleep, and how did she discover that combined with vetiver and cedarwood in the diffuser could send one to lalaland? As Dr. Jim Bob Haggerton says, “Everybody’s body is different”. I didn’t even see Cortistop on the comments. I saw a major improvement in the quality of my sleep after doing the recommended 2 months of Cortistop supplement. And I love to diffuse Sacred Mountain, Stress Away and Pine at bedtime which also aren't in the list! There are many things that can lead to poor sleep patterns. As you pinpoint your own unique needs you can hone in on the best support for those needs.
As you get your sleep regulated you can better your circle story: get the right amount of sleep for your body and you will be better set up for whole-body wellness. If you are in wellness, you can think better, move better, and make healthier choices. And the cycle continues! You are writing your circle story to raise your wellness level, and that is way better than giving a mouse a cookie!

I just learned about something called Peak Week. It's the third week in September, where the highest number of asthma attacks are experienced and reported.
It's a perfect storm of ragweed season being at its height, kids being back in school and passing all the germs around, and the stress of the fall routine changes catching up to us. Being a former asthma sufferer, this discovery hit home for me. The fall was always tough for me. I suffered from allergies and asthma from about age 14 to 34. I had a smattering of attacks throughout the years, spent a decade on inhaled steriods, daily allergy meds, and a restricted diet to help manage it. I really didn't get a handle on it until I adopted a more significant lifestyle change recently which significantly reduced toxins and irritants in my daily environment and also addressed the role that unprocessed emotions were playing in the picture. I use natural products to support myself now, and I am happily able to have an unrestricted diet, no meds, and a lot of natural energy. I am so thankful that this is no longer an issue for me, and if I do have a rare unexpected flare up I have a whole arsenal of natural, God-given tools to support myself. Prayers for all people experiencing the stress of respiratory diseases. I know how scary and debilitating it can be. Here are some things I did to get a handle on it. 1. Switch to non-toxic products: Look at the labels on the products you're using in your home. So many of them contain ingredients which are very aggravating to the respiratory system and the gut among others. There are apps and websites available to help you navigate this. Check out my Natural Living post for what to look for and what to do about it. 2. Examine your emotional health: Grief is stored in the lungs. Take some time to explore if there are things that have happened in your life, not limited to the loss of a loved-one, which you have not gone through all of the stages of mourning over. For example, if something turned out different than you always dreamed ,of, you might need to mourn the loss of that dream. There are lots of other trapped emotional patterns that can contribute. There are ways to help your body and mind release trapped emotions, and I have been amazed at the impact that this has had on my overall welless. If you want to dive deeper into this, send me a message, I am working on sharing more about this in the coming months. 3. Work on your gut health: Our gut is critically important for our overall health. When we are exposed to chemicals and bad thought patterns for a long period of time, our body accumulates this and makes adaptations to do its best to continue operating. But, we might not be efficiently absorbing nutrients, or have a good balance of flora, or we might have inflammation that inhibits normal gut function. To get back into balance, you need to remove the irritants (like those noted in step 1 and 2) through natural detoxification methods and then provide abundant nutrients to help your body heal. It is possible to heal your gut and it will have a huge impact on all of your body systems. I am proof-perfect: 4 years ago I was in rough shape and was diagnosed with an Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Now, after concerted effort to do the things I am recommending, my gut is in great shape and it shows in my current health status; I'm in remission and feeling great, medication-free and happy! 4. Get a community of support: Loneliness can have a huge impact on our health. So can negative influence from those around us. It is so important to find a positive environment that can encourage you on your path to feeling well. The best decision I made for my overall health was getting a Starter Kit from Young Living. I gained a supportive community to help coach me to make the changes I needed to make to feel better, and I gained hundreds of natural tools to support my body, mind and spirit for so many things. I cannot stop talking about this. If you have seen the change that has occurred in my life in the last 3 years, you know something is different, and this is one huuuuge factor in my ability to get a handle on my well being. Breathe easy, friends. Love, Lisa ![]() I am so thankful for this journey. I’ve been doing this now for almost 2 years and what I’ve learned is that people get into oils for many different reasons: 🧒🏽 Kids 😴 Sleep 🤧 To avoid days off from work and school 🤒 ☠️ To get toxins out of the home 🕯🧼 😌 To help provide support for a specific thing they or a loved one is dealing with. 😖 Stress It is a beautiful thing to watch people go from addressing a couple of things in daily life to finding a deeper level of overall wellness in body and mind: myself included! I got into oils for sleep. I had a 3 year old and we were struggling. What I quickly found was that I was able to climb out from the dark place I was in and find so much hope and light and freedom from so many things I had been carrying by tuning into my emotional wellness and the capabilities that essential oils have to offer. The body and mind and soul are inextricably connected and I’ve learned so many things about the link between emotions and wellness. I wouldn’t be where I am today without YL oils, Jesus, the tenacity in making the changes I needed to make to allow myself to let go of what wasn’t serving me, and this community and all of the resources that come along with it. As a result of my life-changing experiences I have a passion is about emotional wellness, emotional release the body/mind/soul connection, and the healing power of Christ. I believe we cannot fully be well without balancing all of those things. I have amassed a ton of knowledge on the subject and I am just leaning into where it will lead me next. I recorded this video on Facebook to share my heart and gratitude for how far I've come, and rather than typing it all out, I just wanted to share with you here too. Getting all those dishes clean can be a chore, but more importantly, leaving a harsh chemical residue on them from the dish soaps we use can be harmful to our health. You may think, “Why do I need to worry about the soap I use to wash my dishes? I am not eating them or putting them on my body.” That is correct, you aren't eating the plate for lunch; however, you do put food ON your dishes, the food picks up the detergent residue on the dishes and then you ingest the food. That means that you ARE ingesting the detergent. You also inhale the chemicals as the dishwasher releases them during washing. The fact that the entire family uses dishes makes it very important to make sure your kitchen products are safe for everyone. 8 Toxic Chemicals In Conventional Dish Soap Let’s face it, doing the dishes is a part of daily life and while that may be the case, exposure to some very common and toxic chemicals shouldn’t be. When was the last time you looked at the ingredients in your dish detergent? Can you not only pronounce, but understand what each one of them is and does? Odds are you’re like me and can maybe pronounce half of them, but that’s as far as I get. To help you live a greener and healthier lifestyle we’ve come up with a list of eight ingredients (aka chemicals) you should avoid in your dish detergents. 1. Phosphates These are often used as a water-softening mineral and act as a fertilizer in water and are hazardous to consume for both ourselves and marine life. If concentrations of this type of chemical are too high in water, they can deplete oxygen levels and promote the growth of certain algae which are toxic to consume. Try switching to a brand that is phosphate free to avoid inadvertently raising the level of this chemical in our water supply. 2. Triclosan This type of synthetic chemical is often added to dish detergents due to its antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral properties. This is the chemical that often qualifies a cleaner as “antibacterial”. However, this chemical is hazardous to our hormones and disrupts our body’s natural thyroid and endocrin systems. This chemical is also often attributed to the growth of “superbugs” since it bioaccumulates in the human body. 3. SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate)/SLES (sodium laureth sulfate) This type of chemical is what gives your dish detergent its foamy property and allows it to cut through grease. While the bubbles are nice to see, they aren’t nice to absorb. This chemical absorbs through your skin and can lead to 1,4-dioxane contamination. It’s also been known to cause rashes and allergic reactions. 4. Fragrance Any given fragrance mixture can contain up to 3,000 chemicals. Which, over time can coat themselves onto plates, forks, cups etc. and eventually be ingested. We recommend going with a dish detergent that gets its fragrance from natural essential oils. 5. DEA (diethanolamine), MEA (monoethanolamine), TEA (triethanolamine) These chemicals have been found to disrupt hormones in the human body and are known for creating nitrates and nitrosamines. There is also a risk of developing 1,4-dioxane contamination if you’re regularly exposed to these types of chemicals. 6. Chlorine Also known as sodium dichloroisocyanurate, this chemical has ben listed on both the EPA’s Community Right-To-Know list and the 1990 Clean Air Act. It is extremely toxic to fish and releases chlorine into the air when it’s being used to clean your dishes. 7. Formaldehyde This chemical is a known carcinogen and might appear on your detergent label as methanol, methyl aldehyde and methylene oxide. It’s added to detergents along with preservatives so that overtime it is slowly released as a preventative to bacterial contamination. However, concentrations of this chemical are toxic within the human body. 8. Ammonia This chemical is extremely toxic and should be avoided. Many people aren’t aware that ammonia, even if in “trace” amounts, is present in their dish detergents. If combined with bleach to create a cleaning solution, the two will release fumes that can cause damage to your eyes, respiratory tract and skin. A better option
Naturally derived and plant-based, Thieves Dish Soap cleans with the power of pure essential oils, leaving dishes sparkling clean with no residue. Enhanced with Jade Lemon and Bergamot essential oils, it has a fresh citrus scent that makes daily chores a little brighter. With no sulfates, phosphates, dyes, or perfumes, it’s gentle on your skin and won’t over-dry your hands.
Stretching the Thieves Dish Soap Here’s an awesome trick I’ve learned to help make mine last a little longer. When my new bottle of dish soap arrives I divide it equally between three bottles. I also like to take it one step further and add 2 tsp of baking soda to each, fill with water and give it a gentle shake. Still the same strong Thieves cleaning power we love plus the soapy suds to help out on those hard to clean yucky dishes! Like to DIY? Here's another recipe. Liquid Dish Soap Bring water to a boil and slowly blend in the liquid castile soap and essential oils. Add the washing soda, allow to cool, then pour into your desired container, be sure to shake this mixture before using. * 20 Drops Lemon Essential Oil * 5 Drops Tea Tree Essential Oil * 10 Drops Lavender Essential Oil * 10 drops of Thieves * 1 Cup Liquid Castile Soap * 1 Cup Water * 2 Tablespoons Washing or Baking Soda

And I want to apologize -- all of my indirectness has actually just been a disservice to the people I love. The Premium Starter Kit is on sale. You've seen the things. I am yelling it from the rooftops because I am not going to play small anymore. I am not going to be shy about this. Every household needs a starter kit. Not just a couple oils. Not the janky ones off Amazon or even that D one. A Young Living Premium Starter Kit. 12 oils, a diffuser, all the things. These oils are different than the junk you've tried. This community is different. There is something special here. I am serious. You need a YL starter kit because you need to make a shift. A commitment. This is important. The only changes that stick are the ones where we’ve gone “all in.” You’ll be tempted to say it’s too much. Too overwhelming. Too expensive. Too complicated. The question is- are you ready to let go of the things keeping you stuck, unwell, unhappy? Or Are you too attached to them to do the work to let go of them? This is a legit question. Are you ready to prioritize yourself and your health over something else that is taking your resources? Are the things you're doing right now working for you? When you’re ready to put in the work to change, you will change. The starter kit and this community will hold you accountable. You won’t be alone, we are cheering you on. People ask me how membership works, “why can’t I just get a couple oils?” Listen. When left unaided, brains want to take the easy route and not do the work to change. But that does not produce results. It’s not the product’s fault, it’s your fault. We don’t get healthy by just having one meal of broccoli or going on the treadmill once. Everything that is transformative takes some commitment. This starter kit was designed mindfully to give you opportunities to take on the habits needed for transformation. “But I’m not looking for transformation, I just want X to feel better.....” Friend. Have you looked honestly at why X is not working in the first place? Everything in life is connected to something deeper and there is no magic potion to pour on and avoid the process of excavating that deeper source. It will be so good to face it and see yourself change as you find relief. That’s how this works. So when you’re ready to invest in yourself and have it returned to you, and be supported by friends and amazing science and gifts from God, I’m here to cheer you on. ❤️ Back in Salt Lake City!
In High School I was really involved in DECA — a competitive marketing club. I qualified back to back years for International competitions and one year it was in Salt Lake City. Six of us traveled there together to compete and climb mountains and see the freshly vacated Olympic grounds, the Temple, a baseball game and make memories I’ll never forget. DECA left such an impression on me, it is some of my fondest memories of that stage of life and something that I excelled in—I earned countless medals, a Letter, I was awarded a scholarship, and was the president of my chapter. I learned lessons about confidence, teamwork, leadership, and grit. I spent hours and hours writing, researching, rehearsing, and presenting projects and role plays. I learned what Flow felt like—I could get lost doing that work late into the evening and I couldn’t get enough. It set the stage for my professional life and in the former years of my career I maintained the spirit by leading and organizing clubs, volunteering as a judge and filling my cup with professional development by being on the board of IIBA. When I look back on those times it brings clarity that I am truly — as Jen Hatmaker puts it — in my lane, doing the thing meant for me. As life has a tendency to do, the path takes a few turns every once in a while... Becoming a mom was the best thing but honestly I had missed connection to that spirit of business and entrepreneurship and leadership and although I needed the time away from the corporate world, I always had hope tucked away in my heart that entrepreneurial life would find me somehow. I didn’t know how. So, here I am full circle, back in Salt Lake attending another International event, reflecting on those formative years (man I am old enough to use that phrase now!) and so thankful for them, and for the broken road that led me back to here to reignite those dormant parts of me that felt so native for me years ago. Let’s get this party started! This is going to be so good. On my way to the Lavender Farm & Distillery In Mona, UT!! (pictures to come! I am having technical difficulties!) ![]() I just had the opportunity to watch the movie STINK! and I am appalled. I actually couldn't make it through on the first sitting because it made me so mad! I know too many people with cancer and auto-immune diseases and endocrine issues. It is insanity. You NEED to watch this movie on Netflix. https://www.netflix.com/title/80076581 It all started with a man that lost his wife to cancer and is raising his two girls alone. He bought Christmas Pajamas from the tween store JUSTICE and the clothes were coated in stinky chemicals --as most garments are, so he started contacting the company, the CEO, and the FDA to find out what chemicals were on the pajamas and discovered that they aren’t required by law to tell consumers what is on the clothes that we put on our children!!! Ultimately, he send them out to a lab to have them tested and found that there were several chemicals including chemicals that were banned from being used on Children’s pajamas 30 years ago!!! 😵 How does this happen in the USA?!? Please watch, I am beyond disgusted and angry by being lulled into a false sense of protection. Here are some of the facts from the documentary: 🔻In 2009, the President's Cancer Panel Report announced cancer risks due to toxic chemicals were grossly underestimated and that "chemicals are devastating American lives."😵 🔻In the 1960s, a woman's lifetime cancer risk was 1 in 20. Today, it's 1 in 8.😷 🔻The FDA deans products “safe” for the public based on testing performed by the companies requesting their approval.🤑 🔻A company is not required by law to list all its ingredients, and how they label their product is not regulated by the FDA. 🤐 🔻"Fragrance" has countless hidden chemicals under this one term - a company is not required to tell you which ones. These chemicals are typically known endocrine and hormone disrupters, and in many cases may cause cancer.🤢 🔻When one reporter had her blood tested, the results showed hundreds of chemicals linked to cancer and heart disease.😱 🔻Studies on pregnant women have found hundreds of toxic chemicals in their bloodstreams and nearly all of those same chemicals were present in the baby's bloodstream - before birth. Many of them known as cancer causing chemicals!🤒 Women and girls use up to 20 products a day with fragrance. I am beyond grateful that my family has spent the last year ditching & switching from some of these harmful chemicals! 🙌 I know I can’t change what I can’t control but I vow to change MY Tiny World and I hope that you will want to change yours!👨👩👧👦 Please download an app, that can scan the products in your everyday life and see what's inside. It Is YOUR responsibility to make informed choices - your future and the future of your family depends on it. 🌱❤️ More resources about Fragrance: https://thechalkboardmag.com/secret-life-of-fragrance-the-toxic-truth-we-need-to-talk-about https://www.womensvoices.org/greenscreen-for-safer-chemicals-list-translator-scores-for-fragrance-chemicals/ From the FDA website: Some individuals may be allergic or sensitive to certain ingredients in cosmetics, food, or other products, even if those ingredients are safe for most people. Some components of fragrance formulas may have a potential to cause allergic reactions or sensitivities for some people. FDA does not have the same legal authority to require allergen labeling for cosmetics as for food. So, if you are concerned about fragrance sensitivities, you may want to choose products that are fragrance free, and check the ingredient list carefully. If consumers have questions, they may choose to contact the manufacturer directly. During June July & August we are swapping and sharing! Summer Swap details This week's Swap - Oral CareYour mouth is very absorbent so anything in your toothpaste has a direct line to your bloodstream. Conventional toothpaste commonly contains the following ingredients which can be harmful to your health. Fluoride: There have been 34 human and 100 animal studies linking fluoride to brain damage, lower IQ in children, health-related issues like thyroid disease, arthritis, dementia, immune system issues and even infertility. BUT I NEED FLOURIDE, DONT I? NO! Do your research! The added risks outweigh the perceived benefits. Also, EOs can be really effective at remineralization as well, if we get the junk out of the way. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or SLS: Makes your toothpaste foamy. Ditch the foam! we don't need it to be clean. SLS is registered as an insecticide and industrial degreaser. Artificial Sweeteners: Avoid! Avoid! Triclosan: This chemical is linked to antibiotic resistance and endocrine disruption and was BANNED from hand sanitizers but is still in toothpaste! Young living has 4 different naturally derived toothpastes with NO fluoride, sulfates, dyes, synthetic colorants, or artificial colorants. My favorite is the Detarome Plus, it's a little more minty and smooth. Others love Aromabright. And just like several fruits have similar vitamins but in different combinations, several oils have properties that can address a given situation. for example there are a lot of reasons why a person might be having trouble sleeping. there are a lot of oils that can have an impact on a persons sleep, and what works for one person will address their reason for not sleeping, but another option will address another person's situation better. this is why there is a starter kit. and this is why the starter kit is designed the way it is designed. it takes the burden off of you to design your perfect plan for execution by giving you all the tools you need to start off on the right path. it truly does not benefit you to start out with an oil or two and "see how it goes." it's not going to go anywhere! these things need to work together in harmony to give you the best outcome and the starter kit gives you an opportunity to replace the things you're using everyday to give you the best possible environment for them to be able to work therapeutically in your body. the 11 oils are the most versatile and popular oils to handle most everyday needs and among them actually have several options to approach those common things so that you can experiment with what works best for your particular body and your particular situation. this isn't just a business scheme, the company literally gives these away at half the retail price (plus, right now an extra 10% discount til the 14th.) because it is THE RIGHT WAY to get started, not because it is the most profitable. they would be doing you a disservice if they did it any other way because it wouldn't set a strong foundation for you to get comfortable, find what works, and quickly make the changes necessary for you to start seeing results. the customer is the one getting the best deal in this situation. so, when you're ready to make a commitment to yourself, i'm here and i am so excited for you. it's not hard. yes there is a learning curve. yes there is an adjustment period, and it is an investment. but if you ask me and thousands of others it is sooo worth it. and there is a tremendous amount of support available and all those people who have gone before you who have experienced positive change to cheer you on! i can't wait to run along side you as you open yourself up to the healing and transformation that you can experience if you just make the choice to go all in and see what it can do for you. |
