This month is flying! What are you doing for Lent? I feel like that is a personal question, lol, but I think we can gain from hearing each other’s journey. I haven’t always really done something for Lent. One year I gave up sweets, which was hard but so good. It truly did help me keep reminded of my urges and my humanity and how much I really need to rely on Jesus in literally every moment.
This year my Lent is a bit different. This year has brought so much miraculous healing for me. I am drawn close to Jesus and receiving so much. Lent is usually a time where we aim to draw closer to him as we prepare to go through Holy Week and his passion which he went through for US. Most Catholics aim to bring about a bit of suffering to humble ourselves to open our hearts and be reminded of him through the promptings of our desires. It’s sort of the least we could do lol. I think I’ve come to realize that amidst the sacrifices we are called to make, Lent is so much about appreciating what Jesus really did for us. During my health crisis I was given the gift of understanding what suffering can be like. I am so thankful to be out of the dark time and into the light and as a result of that deliverance, I want to give joyfully and generously during this time because I am receiving so much from him right now and it would be wrong not to share. So instead of giving up something (and check what that literally means: to send upward) I am giving out as much as I can in love and peace and life-giving words to people. I want to honor his ultimate sacrifice with the love that he poured out and share it with everyone.
